Suddenly

I asked you out many times
But all you could say is no
I tried to call you many times
But they always said you weren't at home
I offered to take you home from school
But you'd say you didn't need a ride
I would try to talk to you
You don't know how much I tried

      Then:
      Suddenly you opened up your eyes
      Then you realized
      That you are in love
      Suddenly you opened up your eyes
      Then you realized
      That I'm the one you're thinking of

I asked you to dance many times
But you would just walk away
I wanted to tell you
That I wished you were mine
But I wouldn't know what to say
I wanted to ask you to be my girlfriend
But I knew you would just say no
I felt like my life would end
And I wanted to tell you so

     Then:
     Suddenly you opened up your eyes
     Then you realized
     That before you weren't aware
     Suddenly you opened up your eyes
     Then you realized
     That you really do care

     Then:
     I found out that you liked me to
     But you just didn't know what to do
     If I would come walking your way
     You wouldn't know what to say

And:
When I asked you to dance
I would put you into a trance
And when I would get near you
You would get so nervous
You wouldn't know what to do

     Because:
     Suddenly you opened up your eyes
     Then you realized
     That before you weren't aware
     Suddenly you opened up your eyes
     Then you realized
     That you really do care
